Shared from Bergbron Animal Clinic page and very relevant to the husky breed especially in the hot temperatures being experienced in SA.

Dogs shouldn’t be walked on hot tar roads. Take your shoes off and test how hot it is. If it’s too hot for you then it’s too hot for them. This dog is receiving treatment for getting badly burned paws on a hot tar road, so pet owners please take note. Walk dogs early in the morning or late afternoon and ensure they have fresh cool water everyday.

BLACK DOGS especially should have cool shelter from the hot sun because overexposure could result in organ damage/failure or death. A black dog attracts heat so be an informed, clued up pet owner.

If you see someone walking a black dog in blistering heat, stop and explain to them what harm they’re doing to their dog. They won’t like being told but tell them anyway.
