Any organisation dreads the call we received on Wednesday. We all feel the huge loss of a long time supporter who passed away in her home surrounded by her dogs who experienced extreme trauma. The dogs witnessed their mom’s passing and were covered in her blood caused by a fall.

Dogs have incredible noses and can do incredible things with them. A dog would absolutely be able to recognize the death of a person at home. As the body begins to shut down the biochemistry will change and the core body temperature will lower which smells different. This can distress a dog and they can become even more distressed when the owner doesn’t acknowledge their requests for response.

We took in 7 dogs on Wednesday, 5 Huskies, 1 beagle and 1 cross breed. We are in urgent need of homes for these dogs. Individual posts will follow on each dog.

Situated in Gauteng but can be relocated anywhere in SA if HRSA home check criteria are met.

To adopt any one of them please email siobhan@huskyrescue.org.za

For Anne – words by Linken Park:

If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone’s time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We’re quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do!
